About Me

IMG_0087.JPG

I'm a bit of an odd character with an abnormal background and even stranger path through life.

In the beginning my next brother willy and I were born on an American military base in the small city of Bad Kreuznach in West Germany in 1965.

My parents were Canadian. They met and married in Canada soon after our mother Norma Lawler had resigned her officers commission in the RCAF which is the Canadian Air air force. Our father Wilfred Somers was a private and had just been kicked out of the Canadian army for misconduct, but somehow managed to join the American army. He was stationed in west Germany after boot camp and thats how we ended up there.

I have snapshot memories as a toddler from when we lived there.

Today I'm the next best selling author having completed my first work titled "Confessions of a catholic alter boy".

Don't let me get your hopes up, this is not about some sex crazed priest. I've never been assaulted by any kind of clergy through the course of my life.

About Me

In 1994 I was severely injured in a grain elevator. This was a permanent life altering event. The job was only intended to be temporary. The doctors put back together as well as could be however , I've lived both physical and severe PTSD afflictions since then. For the greater period of time since the incident I was able to adapt and compensate for these injuries. Beginning 4 years ago the down hill slide has been steep and the road has been bumpy to say the least. I've been unable to work in my trade as a welder, unable to apply my college education to my  intended career in agri-business, and lack the mental cognition to enter any kind of office job.

So despite only having a few hours a day where I can concentrate I've decided to use that time to put pen to paper telling the stories from my odd journeys. These stories are real, a little raw and organic silly stories from childhood growing up in Alexandria Virginia during the late 60's and early 70's. We were not the typical "Catholic" family. I hope you enjoy it and it makes you giggle a little.

Spiritualy, I identify as a defiant Catholic.

Amen.

I've been a lot of things during my lifetime. I've had the opportunity to travel and experience and live in diverse cultures. I'm an odd character with an unusual background. I've got some tales to tell.
